Tonight I integrated Eric Marciano’s Easy FMS into the TA-4, allowing the instructor/back-seater to create, load and manipulate the flightplan loaded into the NAS in the sim.
Eric’s FMS looks and works really well and broadens the capability of the sim. Next step is to integrate one of the 15″ Touch Screens into the IOS, allowing for touch operation of the FMS, even when the main IOS screen is showing the front cockpit instruments.
Part of the long-term plan for the instructor station is to make it into more of a cockpit environment, allowing the instructor a limited capability for flying the aircraft from the rear seat. Part of this involves making the seat adjustable ‘up’ to the right height to be able to see enough to fly the aircraft. The plan may be to down-size the main monitor, and lift the entire desk and chair up about 100mm. More to come….
